Wedding Planning Tips from a Photographer - Getting Ready | 432 Photography | Rocky Mountain Wedding Photographer

wedding tips for getting ready

Ahhhh.  One of my favorite times during a wedding. Getting Ready.

There is so much joy and anticipation on the start of the wedding day.  There's a ton of prep for the ladies... along with a ton Beyoncé blaring from the bathroom.  And mimosas.  And perfume.  And all things girly.  And then in the next room over, there's a whole lotta men with open beer bottles, cologne, jokes, and laughter filling the air.  It's awesome.  His top dudes, her favorite girls, all in one place, all ready to celebrate this marriage.

Here are a few tips that will make those getting ready pictures look amazing:

creating a wedding timeline for getting ready

LET THE LIGHT IN.  This is so important!  Open up those window shades and turn off those lamps.  The natural lighting will instantly make your images look like they're straight outta a magazine.  Hair + makeup artists will want you close to a window so they can see you in this beautiful light, too.  It's a win-win for everyone!

2.  DECLUTTER.  Instead of getting dressed in the room where everyone is doing their hair and makeup, consider moving to another room to get your dress + accessories on.  The clutter of makeup and clothes can take away from a beautiful image.  Have your girls do a quick pick up, or simply pick a clean + well - lit room to put your final touches on (this is also a great moment for some bridal pictures).

LEAVE ROOM FOR SPECIAL MOMENTS.  Wedding days are full of them - but planning for it is the first step.  Having someone special with you to help you into your dress, having a dad's first look, or a friend's first look, make for such special moments that are amazing to have photographed.  Be sure to give your photographer anything you are wearing down the aisle (i.e. your veil, earrings, broach, dress).

Let the anticipation build as you enjoy your wedding day!  With these tips under your belt, you're sure to have amazing photos to remember the day by.
